Adventure Video Showcase

I’ve been semi immobilized since I covered the SA Freestyle Surf Kayak Champs. For some obscure reason the cartilage in my right knee decided to tear in the surf. I’m having it fixed real soon, and then the adventures will speed up again!

While hobbling along through life I read an adventure-history book, which I will review soon. In the meantime, I started searching for online videos on the subject of adventure and related stuff. This list is a showcase of some of the best creations I found. Enjoy!

Skiing in Iceland

It’s the story of one of the oldest settlements in Iceland’s Fjords, and how the original inhabitants are slowly re-establishing themselves. And of course, some professional videography of skiers in an amazing setting! Also in the footage: Hiking, Yachting and Ocean Kayak. As with all good Vimeo productions, activate HD, wait a bit for the upload and view it as is was intended.

Cheapass Challenge

These boys have gone slightly batty! Buying the absolute cheapest options in motorised snow transportation and gear, and then travelling 260 miles across Michigan and over an ice bridge. 100% adventure. 300% insanity!

Inside the Monster

This is BIG WAVE surfing, Tahiti style. However, this is NOT your average self promoting bunch of cool cats. It’s a documentary on one of the most amazing waves on the planet, they guys who surf it, the boaters who take cameramen and tourists there, and those with a fetish for capturing extreme footage. I’m hooked!

The Last Ice Merchant

Now this is not quite adventure. This is about a unique lifestyle that makes many seasoned adventurers look like amateurs, and therefore it belong in my list.

Hope you enjoy the clips. See you soon in the water and on the rocks!
