Freestyle!

Heya!

South Africa is getting ready for its National Freestyle Championships (River). Kayakers from all over the country is preparing to punt their skills against each other in the small town called Parys (way smaller than its European namesake but way more awesome too).

Why Parys? There’s an awesome river called the Vaal, a rad hole, a sweet wave and lekker organisers. Gatsien is the venue and 3 November 2013 the date. Yup Gatsien is Afrikaans for ‘getting your butt kicked’ and for a good reason. The dam operators at the Barrage promised to release just the right amount of water for perfect conditions, and the recent rain guarantees that they will have more than enough water available for this purpose.

If you are a sleepy head and want to compete, you better get hold of the guys at Whitewater Training and beg. You’re already late, but if you play really nice, who knows? Spectators and water-curious voyeurs are welcome too. Get there and join in the fun!

Trailblazerguide will be there to take some video footage. We have some sweet stuff planned, which we will share with you soon after the fact.

So until then, to build some psyche, check out the freestyle philosophy and move repertoire of the boys from Salida, Colorado:
