Metamorphosis – Last Umzimkulu Days. Day 15-22

The rest of the days flew by fast. We did morning and afternoon sessions between long siestas in the sweltering heat as the river continued to rise. On rest days we went hiking in the jungle, when the river became too high. We discovered a whole new word in the jungle surrounding the river, and Sheena showed her scramble out and scared the crap out of us!

With 22 water days behind her, Sheena has learned how to kayak in white water. She is by no means a hardcore expert, but she has learned the basic skills needed to take her forward. We decided to compare her progress to her first two river days on the Vaal, packed up and headed for Parys. Next time we will tell you all about it!
